Complete rebuild of logging hauler featuring electronic control system and hydraulically-driven skyline for precise, independent control of grapple carriage.

CLIENT REQUIREMENT

A modern, reliable hauler with a skyline system that remains fully controllable while other ropes are in motion.

SOLUTION

APPM purchased a machine specifically for the build and completely rebuilt it to meet the client’s needs:

  • Stripped the machine back to the bare chassis and fitted a hydraulic undercarriage and modern guarding package.
  • Converted the 1940 era track-frame to a modern excavator-style track frame. 
  • Designed and built a new cab with a fully electronic control system, eliminating the need for air in the cab and enabling all functions to be operated via two joysticks.
  • Completely rebuild the entire drumset. 
  • Installed a remote-mounted cooling package in the engine bay for easier servicing.
  • Designed and fitted a hydraulically-driven skyline system that isolates the skyline from the main driveline, ensuring precise control regardless of main and tail drum operation.
